Simprints
MLC Vanguard | Created by Simprints Technology Ltd.
Simprints builds biometric solutions tailored for last-mile contexts, enabling verified delivery of every vaccine, every dollar, every public good to those who need them most.
2,500,000 Lives Impacted
Simprints has deployed in 16 countries, and has enrolled >1.6M people to date. In addition to extensive diligence performed by Gavi, USAID, FCDO, and other partners, the technology has been assessed in multiple independent evaluations.
Two peer-reviewed studies conducted by Brown University School of Public Health found Simprints out-performed the current EMR system in recording HIV visits among women in Option B+ in Uganda (published in AIDS and Behavior and AIDS Care). Simprints captured 50% of visits missed by the existing EMR, saving health workers time in unnecessary re-registration and creation of duplicate records. The majority of participants felt the biometric system was easy to use (64%), required no additional assistance (69%) and met their expectations (76%).
Finally, a longitudinal study in Bangladesh funded by DFID and the Global Innovation Fund showed that the deployment of Simprints to uniquely identify expectant mothers led to 38% more visits, leading to 27.64% more women having comprehensive birth plans and 19% more newborns receiving all essential newborn care.
The Innovation
Simprints has developed a digital identification solution specifically designed for frontline service providers. To account for the different contexts we work in, we provide two biometric solutions - fingerprint and face. Our rugged, mobile fingerprint scanner pairs via bluetooth with a phone or tablet, and has an independent battery. Simprints plugs seamlessly into our partners’ existing mobile tools and workflows, allowing frontline staff to know exactly who they are reaching. Our biometric solutions are built to be inclusive, scalable, and suitable for low- and middle-income countries.
Accurate identification prevents people from ‘falling through the cracks’ of service delivery. Collection of biometric data also allows access to key clarity metrics, such as number of enrolments and identifications, duplicates, frontline worker efficiency, and coverage. This empowers our partners to save limited time and resources when identifying beneficiaries for service delivery.
In 2023, Simprints has announced a new partnership with the Ghana Health Service, Gavi and Arm to verify delivery of the new malaria vaccine.
