One Family Health
MLC VANGUARD | Created by One Family Health
One Family Health (OFH) is transforming rural healthcare by supporting nurses to become entrepreneurs. OFH uses a franchise approach to support nurse-owned primary care facilities and operates under a public-private partnership approach to complement and extend the reach of the public sector with privately-managed facilities.

OFH brings quality health services to vulnerable communities. By reducing the time and cost required to reach healthcare, beneficiaries are able to access care sooner and more often, helping to prevent illness and treat illness before it progresses. For individuals, families, and communities, improved health also translates to improved socioeconomic wellbeing.
The Innovation
OFH has developed a sustainable, franchised business model to deliver primary healthcare in underserved communities; the OFH model reduces morbidity and mortality, expands the capacity of the national health system, and encourages entrepreneurship. By targeting communities furthest from existing health facilities, OFH addresses substantial inequities in access to healthcare. OFH’s core innovation is the business model, which combines the use of franchising with a partnership strategy enabling financial sustainability while delivering care to the most vulnerable. In rural areas, OFH-supported nurse-entrepreneurs deliver sustainable, high-quality treatment and prevention of the most common illnesses. OFH support includes access to financing; training; procurement and distribution of medicines; mHealth technology; and quality assurance. OFH operates under a public-private partnership agreement that links our private, franchised network with the public health system and subsidized national health insurance scheme. OFH clinics are co-branded by the MoH, refer directly to higher-level public facilities, and accept the national health insurance, making services affordable for the poor.
