Greenway Cookstoves
MLC VANGUARD | Created by Greenway Appliances
The Greenway Cookstoves help optimize the air supply to the flame and ensure complete combustion of the fuel while reducing radiation losses. It helps reduce smoke emissions by 70%, wood fuel usage by 65%, and the negative health and environmental impacts due to improved efficiency of the cookstove and cooking process.
4,150,000 Lives Impacted
It is important to note that while the government policies in many countries, including India, emphasize maximizing access to liquified petroleum gas (LPG), most rural households depend on more than one energy source for cooking and heating. Due to unaffordable rates of LPG and limited access to electricity, women in the most vulnerable sections of society remain dependent on biomass powered cookstoves for all their heating and cooking needs. Women are also responsible for collecting the fuel, and the increased efficiency translates to less time spent for cooking and fuel collection.
The Innovation
Around 3 billion people all over the world are still deprived of access to clean cooking solutions. Cooking on traditional mud stoves or open fires have tremendous health hazards to the users, who are mostly women. It is important to address the inefficiency of traditional stoves. Greenway aims to make clean cooking a reality for the millions of families that are still dependent on solid fuels for cooking. The significant reductions in smoke emissions and fuel consumption will help address the issues of household air pollution and make cooking with solid fuels more energy efficient.
