The Innovation
CLT’s focus has been to address the lack of access to basic needs in the context of education. Our body of work examines ‘access’ in the context of under-served communities. For example, having content/resources on the internet does not necessarily become usable for someone if you cannot afford the technology, if you have no training to use the net, and/or you do not have it in regional language.
Our strategy has been to build an entire ecosystem to develop relevant resources for the practitioners in their regional languages and develop low-cost mobile technology delivery models with data analytics. We have tested the content in multiple environments in 4,200 villages; our dashboard has tracked a lot of data to give us insights on technology enabled learning in remote areas. We have learnt that we can influence the local practitioners to be motivated and effective with good methodologies and innovative resources for teaching, and ignite aspiration for children to want to learn more. Affordability and ease of operations was a big factor for the success of the program.
About CLT
CLT, founded in 1997, is a non-profit serving underserved schools. Our mission is to connect students and practitioners to endless opportunities and new experiences of learning. Our vision is to ensure access to quality education for all. The access to quality education is a challenge in under-served communities. The opportunities for technology-led interventions have had their own challenges in India. CLT has been a pioneer in setting up 12,600 digital classrooms in rural India under the banner ‘e-Patashale’. The challenge CLT addresses is teacher shortage, lack of subject matter expertise in STEM and lack of educational resources in the rural schools. CLT innovations have master teachers design innovative pedagogy for remote practitioners for K-12 in STEM and Early Grade Reading.
