How to Apply

Applicants should work together on their submissions. The process will take place in three stages. See more details below!

The deadline for the Expression of Interest stage is Monday 18th December 2023 at 11pm GMT.  

 

Stage 1: Expression of Interest

The expression of interest must be completed collaboratively by applicants. A short form will request: 

  • Points of contact from each organisation applying

  • Project title

  • Project objective

  • Project Concept submission in desired format (uploaded as attachment).

The deadline for the Expression of Interest stage is Monday 18th Decmber 2023 at 11pm GMT.  

  • We encourage creativity and invite applicants to submit their project concept in a format of their choice (video, audio, slide deck, written) according to the guidelines below.

    Written Word Document - Document must be no more than 5 pages in PDF/ MS Word / Google Doc format

    Slide Deck - No more than 10 slides in MS Powerpoint / Google Slides / PDF format

    Video/Audio - No more than 10 mins in length in MP4 / .MOV format

  • Project concept submissions should aim to address the following questions: 

    1. What problem is the proposed project trying to solve? (Please include evidence of the defined problem) 

    2. What is the objective of the proposed project and what key hypotheses do you aim to test as part of your project and how do you plan to test them in a practical way? 

    3. How is this project concept innovative?

    4. What will each partner bring to the collaboration and how will you work together?

    5. If successful, what will the potential impact for advancing women's economic empowerment be?

Book a Coaching Call

To best prepare applicants for the submission of their project concept, we will be offering 30-minute coaching calls where applicants will get a chance to discuss and get feedback on their project idea before they submit your expression of interest form. These calls will take place between September 25th and December 18th, and will be carried out by a member of the Bayer Foundation team and a member of the MLC team.

Stage 2: Virtual Pitch Event

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a virtual pitch in January 2024 where they will get the chance to present their proposed project to a panel of expert reviewers from the Bayer Foundation, R4D, and other partners.

The pitch will be followed by a Q&A session with the panel. This will also be an opportunity to capture further feedback and refine the ideas to inform the detailed proposal for the third and final stage of the application process.

Stage 3: Detailed Proposal

Following the pitch stage, shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a detailed written proposal, in a template that will be provided. Applicants will be expected to provide new information around: 

  • Overall objective of the proposed project / collaboration, including high level Theory of Change (activities, outputs, outcomes and impact)

  • Specific roles and activities of each collaborator

  • Learning question(s) that the collaboration seeks to explore

  • High-level timeframe 

  • Due diligence information for each partner
